Title: The local Hahn-Wilson conjecture
Abstract: Spectra of fp-type, first introduced by Mahowald and Rezk, form a natural class of spectra which are in a sense "almost periodic". This class includes many familiar spectra that are relatively easy to calculate with, such as topological modular forms or K-theory. A conjecture of Dylan Wilson and Jeremy Hahn predicts that in fact all spectra of fp-type can be built in finitely many steps out of a certain familiar family. I will talk about joint work with David Lee, in which we resolve a local variant of this conjecture.
