Title:Spectral analysis of the Kramers-Fokker-Planck operator with a decaying potential

Abstract:The Kramers-Fokker-Planck equation is a kinetic equation for the distribution function in phase space of Brownian motion in an external field. The case of decaying potential is related to nonequilibrium thermodynamics. In this talk, I will report some results obtained by methods from microlocal analysis and quantum scattering. They are concerned with threshold spectral analysis and large-time expansion of the solution, limiting absorption principles outside some exceptional set, and decay of eigenfunctions.
