Title:Introduction to the Gluing Method
Abstract:In this talk, we will give a systematic introduction to the basic framework and core ideas of the gluing method. We begin by reviewing the historical background and typical applications of this method, including classical results such as the construction of metrics with constant scalar curvature, the existence proof of Einstein metrics, and the gluing of minimal surfaces. We then focus on the key technical steps in the gluing process: how to choose appropriate local models, how to construct approximate solutions, how to perturb approximate solutions into exact solutions via the implicit function theorem or the contraction mapping principle, and the analytical tools involved in this process (such as weighted Hölder spaces and a priori estimates for linear operators).
