主讲人Hao Chen, ShanghaiTech University

主讲人简介: Hao Chen, Dr. rer. nat. habil., is an Assistant Professor at ShanghaiTech University. He holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a Diplôme d'Ingénieur from École Polytechnique (France), a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) on discrete geometry, and a Habilitation from the University of Göttingen (Germany) on differential geometry.

He began to work on minimal surfaces around 2017. His research in this direction is closely related to chemistry, physics, and materials science. His mathematical results have been published in Trans. AMS, SIAM J. Math. Anal., and Crelle's, etc. His interdisciplinary work has appeared in Chem, Angew. Chem., Proc. R. Soc. A., etc.

讲座主题:Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces - An interdisciplinary topic

讲座摘要:Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces (TPMSs) are minimal surfaces in flat 3-tori. They find ubiquitous applications in science and engineering as a model for bicontinuous structures, and hence enjoy contributions from researchers across many disciplines. Mathematics has fallen relatively behind until recent constructions of new examples, which are again inspired by material sciences, fluid dynamics, and biophysics. In this talk, I will tell the story of this fruitful interaction between maths and science.
