Title:Log geometry, D-modules and applications
Abstract: Logarithmic geometry provides ideas generalizing the theory of schemes in algebraic geometry. This idea has applications in understanding compactification of moduli spaces, in deformation theory and in Hodge theory etc. The theory of D-modules provides algebraic tools to study linear PDEs, which is a natural generalization of the theory of coherent sheaves in algebraic geometry.
In this talk, I will explain how we can combine these two theories together to get the theory of log D-modules. Then I will focus on applications, including a very recent application of log D-modules to understand the intersection structures of Bernstein-Sato ideals.
In the pretalk, I will explain in details how to use standard log structures on smooth affine spaces to get a formula of b-functions for integer powers of a multivariate polynomials.
