Biography:

  • Ph.D.in Applied Mathematics (California Institute of Technology)

  • Inaugurated Chair of 'Non-linear Sciences’(2002), University of Cambridge, UK

  • Member of the Academy of Athens (2004) and of all three major European Academies, including Academia Europaea

  • Naylor Prize of the London Mathematical Society, 2000

  • Blaise Pascal Medal of the European Academy of Sciences(2023), “for the Fokas method, which is considered the most important development in the solution of partial differential equations since the works of Fourier, Laplace and Cauchy”.

  • Awarded eight Honorary degrees According to research.com, 2024, he is in the list of 10 most cited UK mathematicians of all times.

  • He has approximately 400 publication.

  • He has authored or co-authored seven monographs and has co-edited eight books.
