讲座主题:Polarization Modes of Gravitational Waves
讲座摘要:This talk reviews recent progress in the study of gravitational wave polarizations and introduces a parameterized framework for analyzing polarization modes in a broad class of modified gravity theories. These theories satisfy the following conditions: (1) four-dimensional spacetime, (2) principle of least action, (3) general covariance, and (4) free particle motion described by the geodesic equation. Our findings indicate that the polarization modes of gravitational waves depend on the parameter space of the theory. Notably, some theories can permit up to six polarization modes. Furthermore, we discover that within a broad category of gravitational theories, the polarization modes of gravitational waves exhibit properties of universal significance.
