Title:Recent progress on profinite completion of 3-manifold groups

Abstract: If we know all the finite quotient groups of the fundamental group of a 3-manifold, to what extent can we infer about the 3-manifold itself? This question is closely related to the profinite completion of the fundamental group. In this talk, I will review general facts on this topic, and introduce some progress to the question in recent years.
