Applications are now open for the 2026 Westlake Summer Program in Mathematics. Undergraduate and graduate students worldwide who are passionate about mathematics are welcome to apply.
The 2026 Westlake Summer Program in Mathematics is designed to enhance students’ understanding of mathematical basics and recent advances in the discipline. This short-term program will be held from July 5 through 12, 2026 at Westlake University, Hangzhou, China.
The summer program will feature four mini-courses covering topics such as Harmonic Analysis, Number Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Applied Mathematics. Each course consists of 4 to 5 lectures, delivered by Prof. Huayi Chen, Prof. Hong Qian, Prof. Zhongwei Shen, and Prof. Chuanhao Wei from Westlake University.
In addition to the lectures, the program will include interactive sessions, designed to build a bridge for in-depth conversation between students and PIs. While guiding students to master fundamental theories, the summer camp also aims to help students clarify their future academic directions and planning.
I. Eligibility Requirements
Applications are open to undergraduate and master’s students in the Classes of 2027 and 2028 majoring in Mathematics or related fields.
*Note: The courses are primarily designed for sophomore and junior undergraduates. However, interested senior graduates are also highly encouraged to apply.
II. Program Duration
July 5th - July 12th, 2026
III. Courses
· Geometry in Number Theory
· Information, Entropy, Statistical Thermodynamics and Data
· Real-Variable Methods in Harmonic Analysis
· Hodge Theory: A Bridge Between Differential Geometry and Algebraic Geometry
Detailed course arrangements will be provided before the program begins.
IV. Tuition, Accommodations, and Travel
Application for the summer program has no registration nor tuition fees. Westlake University will provide free on-campus accommodation, short-term insurance and a meal allowance for accepted students.
The application for reimbursement of round-trip travel expenses will be open to students after their registration on campus. The academic committee will review the reimbursement applications based on the submitted materials and academic performance to determine whether to approve the request and the reimbursement amount. Students approved for travel expense reimbursement will be required to submit supporting materials and bank account information within a specified timeframe in accordance with Westlake University’s financial regulations. Travel expenses eligible for reimbursement are restricted to round-trip travel between the student’s place of origin or residence and Hangzhou, exclusively for the purpose of participating in this program.
All other costs, including but not limited to local transportation, should be covered by the students themselves.
